What's going on with the sky guide timing?
It's out by one hour, anyone know or is it just on my set?

Natwest Card Reader

cardreadernw.jpg

I received a letter in the post this morning, from NatWest, telling me I am going to receive a card reader very soon.
Even before I have received it I am very sceptical about this device. OK I can see that it is going to make on-line banking a bit safer but I do have a few issues with it.

I suppose the first would be the practicality of using the thing. It seems that this device generates a unique number for you to log on to certain features. This is every time you log on not just the once. So it now means that I will have to carry this thing around with me everywhere I go. That just can't be practical can it? I use on-line banking from 3 computers.
Maybe they will send out extra readers for those people who need them. It also means that I have to carry my card around with me now as well. I didn't need to before this idea came about.
What happens when they run out of batteries? I know that's being a bit to critical but it will happen. Do we have to buy new ones or do they send us new ones. Maybe they send out a complete new reader!
What happens with joint accounts? Both people will need one to access the on-line banking. Then both people will probably want 2 or 3 of them. There are going to be millions of these things around the world soon, I can just see it.
I hope my other banks don't go this way. It just doesn't seem to be a green solution to this problem.
I'm all for making it harder for fraudsters and thief's but surely there is another way.
Thinking about it, thief's would love this, because everyone will be carrying the units around with them right next to their wallets. A nice little package for them in one place. Just what they wanted for Christmas.

Would love to hear your thoughts on this Card reader idea. For or Against?

Found a Car

Look what else we found on the site I am working on at the moment.

foundacar.jpg

It's amazing what you can find when you cut a few bushes down here and there.
I don't think this site has had any gardeners on it for quite a few years!
Nice little motor don't you think. Would look nice in black with tinted windows.
Would make a good gangster car. Shame it has got so much rust on it.

In Heaven

Just got back from the Farmers and I was in Heaven. I opened the door and the smell just hit me in the face. I have been making a Jersey Bean Croc for the last 2-3 days and it smells gorgeous.
2 days of soaking the beans and then another day of cooking it. I can't wait for tomorrows dinner. Just need to stop off at a bakers (somewhere) and get a nice crispy French loaf to go with it.
Roll on tomorrow I say.

Blanches Banques POW Camp

A little Jersey History for you guys:

I am doing a job at the moment which has quite an interesting piece of Jersey History on the site.
It's an old prisoner of war hut from the Blanches Banques Prisoner of War camp during World War 1.
The camp held over 1500 German prisoners, 150 guards, and a staff of 20 or 30 officers.
I took a photo of what it looks like now and also managed to dig up some photo's of the original camp dating back to 1917. The photo's and a little explanation are in the extended entry:

This is what the pow hut looks like now. Considering it is over 90 years old it is at least still standing.

The 3 photo's above are what they originally looked like.

Rich Ross

So the BBC are going to slash salaries and force up to 2800 people out of a job because it needs to find £2bn! What the fuck? I'm not that surprised really considering they pay Jonathan Ross £6,000,000 per year. Where do they get off with giving him that much of our T.V licence money?
Maybe some good things could come from all of this. They may pull EastEnders and Strictly Come Dancing. Now wouldn't that be a result? :-)

Is this me?

Was flicking through the Internet as I do and came across a photo.
Is it just me or does this look a little bit like me?
Or is it just because he/she is drinking alcohol and is the same pose I am used to being in?
Would be typical if I had found my double and he/she was a piss head.

Is this me?

Ya Pili dies

What a shame, I just found out that Ya Pili has died. Here is the excerpt from thisisjersey:

"Durrell staff are said to be devastated by the death of four-year-old gorilla Ya Pili.

The primate died yesterday from what was believed to be a viral illness. Staff have confirmed that, despite having thought that Ya Pili was a male since birth, she was in fact a female.

They only confirmed the sex when they started treating her for the illness this week, although the head of the team who looks after the gorillas, Richard Johnstone-Scott, had always been suspicious that Ya Pili was in fact a female.

Born in July 2003, Ya Pili had never been medically examined because she had been healthy- the animals are anaesthetised only when absolutely necessary."

Name that Drug

Apparently I am a social user of drugs. Hmmm, I suppose Nicotine and Alcohol are drugs, so I suppose they are right.
What level user are you when you take the test? Bet you're higher than me as I didn't know many of the answers at all.
I did get the Eric Clapton one though, not that it had much to do with drug taking.

Dog Shit

What a day!
Had one of those days that just flew over my head today.
Got into work and it just flew by (well busy with a deadline again! 3 weeks this time)
Then came home and did my bits before going down the pub.
Would you believe it?
When I got to the pub they were serving pints of Grolsch for just £2!
Now that was a result. Normally £2.80 but apparently people at the Farmers aren't drinking enough of the stuff.
I do try my hardest but can't drink for the whole pub.
They have to sell it within the week otherwise they have to throw it away.
So looks as though I will have to give them a hand ;-)
Then guess what?
I walk home and somebody is blaming my dog for shitting all over the road next to my place!
Sounds good to me apart from I don't have a dog.
This happened to me when I lived in the Flat, when a D*ck Head told me he would "Kill my Dogs if I wouldn't stop them from barking" at night.
Maybe I do need a dog just so I could justify these claims.
Anyway I took a couple of photo's of the sign they left, just for the crack (Lawyers).
Extended entry:

SNV30471.JPG

Bless them. Maybe they should redirect the sign to my 2 next door neighbours who actually have dogs! Oh and tell those fekkin dogs to stop shitting on our driveway :-)

Gamers

Anyone want to give me some advice?

I was thinking of getting a new computer so I could play the latest games (I bought one and it doesn't work in my computer!) and decided it was going to get a little expensive for a top of the range machine. So am now contemplating going for a games console instead. What the hell do I get? I was toying with the Playstation 3 which I can get for £342 from Amazon. (I get 17.5% off for VAT)
But reading up on it there seems to be a load of people saying Xbox 360 is better. Of course then there's the Wii.
Someone must have some good advice on this.
