Allo Allo

It seems to have been a slow blogging week this week. Probably due to the long weekend we have just had and also the fact that I am not in the best of health at the moment either. Nothing serious, just a case of my head feels like it wants to explode. Hopefully having 200,000 Sudafed will help that out. Have wanted to stay at home and do nothing but as per usual, I need to desperately finish a job before I leave for my Holiday. At least I am on top of it and it looks as though the job will be finished in time. (Famous last words)
On a different note, I have been on a small spending spree recently to do with the computer. A friend of mine wanted some dvd's copying and I thought that was a good excuse to get myself a dvd burner. About time too. So I bought myself one of these, which meant I had to get one of these, which meant I had to get one of these. Oh and because it is a lightscribe burner I thought I should get some of these too, so I did.
It has now arrived and I set it up the other night. Now I have to sus out how to use the damned thing.
Fingers crossed your dvd's will be in the post soon matey :-)
Now back to work.

Kenya kenya kenyaaaaa!

thumb_Kenya_Tiger.gif

I can't believe it is only a few weeks to go until I finally get to go to Kenya for my holidays. How excited am I?
Anyway, you know the Tiger and Lion from the Kenya song? I just found out you can buy the little blighters, just a shame they are out of stock at the moment.
I was also thinking of going snorkelling while I am out there but think I have changed my mind now. How fekkin big is that sod? Looks like I will stick to the fishing instead.
Right that's enough teasing for now. Even though I'm not really teasing you, it's more of a note to myself to get something organised for when I get over there. No doubt I will be putting a few more bits and pieces up here over the next few days. If anybody has any other ideas on what I can do whilst away, I am all ears.

Gin

Water is composed of two gins, Oxygin and Hydrogin. Oxygin is pure gin. Hydrogin is gin and water.

Just thought I would share.

Book on Boobs

Have just found a must have book on Amazon. Now I'm not normally into reading books but this one caught my eye for some reason. I really like the customer review on it too. I bet you I buy it when I come home later pissed up too :-)

Fluids

It's Saturday afternoon, the sun is shining and I am stuck inside working. I must be mad.
There is still some light on the horizon though. Another get together later on tonight for a couple of beers and a chat. Just what the doctor ordered. Well he did actually, his exact words were to drink lots of fluids. I wouldn't want to go against his words now.

Scaffolding

Isn't it just typical? I woke up this morning to loud banging from next door. Went down to see what was going on and it appears that the next door neighbour is having her house painted. So the banging was the scaffolding being put up. Problem is that they are putting it up on our land, just in time for the house warming party tomorrow! Oh well nevermind, I suppose I have got to get used to that now I actually have neighbours. Let's hope I don't turn the music up too loud to piss them off :-)

Battle of Flowers 2006

Well it seems I am the only one left in the office today. Reason being? Because of the Battle of Flowers. Seems like last year I was either going for lunch or going on the piss! I think I did both in the end. So what do I do today? Lunch? Drink? Nope, I am going to be working around the house. Hanging things up, nailing things down and hiding stuff under the carpet. Well I would if I had any carpets.
Right, i'm off. Have a good day guys.

Booze Shop

Today is shopping day. Well to be more precise, it's the "House Warming Booze Shopping Day". Some off licence somewhere in Jersey is going to be well pleased when they see me stroll in today. Any shop owner fancy giving me 10 percent off or anything? So for the shopping list? Hmmm let's think.

Shopping List

Lager (Lots of it)
Gin (A bottle will do as I have a few at home already)
Bottles of T (As in the T part of G&T)
Lemons and Limes.
Need to sort out Ice with the pub
Red Wine
White wine (Soda to go with that for the spritzer drinkers amongst us)
Vodka (Coke and Diet coke)

That seems to be good enough for now.
Have I left anything off the list?

Lost on Sark

Well that was an interesting weekend. As you probably know, I went to Sark on Friday night. Should have been pretty straight forward but things didn't go quite to plan.

Let me tell you about my little journey. (See the extended entry)

Friday afternoon we met with Elise who came to pick us up in the tender to take us across to the yacht. On the way over she told us that they always have a catastrophe on a journey and that we are safe because it has already happened. Basically when Elise and Mandy went over on the tender, a swell hit them and they both got soaked. That made me feel a bit better as it was obviously plain sailing from there onwards.
Well it was for the most part. Elise gave me the helm and we set off for Sark. We got there in good time (about 2 hours) and anchored up in Dixcart bay. Then we set off in the tender, again, to the beach. Up the cliff to meet Barry and Cathy who were having a drink in Stocks Hotel. Then off to the Dixcart bay Hotel for diner. We had a great time there as well but thought we should head back to the boat before it got a little too late.
This is where it all started. We got down to the beach and all got in the tender to go back to the yacht. It was dark by then so we used a small torch to light the way. Putt putt putt we went in search of our floating hotel. Could we find the damned thing? No we couldn't. So we went back to the beach to wait for the sun to come up. We were all wet and cold but knew we could catch up on our sleep when we finally got on board in a few hours.
The sun came up about 5:30am, we were all looking to see where the boat was and couldn't quite sus out which one she was, so we decided to get back into the tender and go looking for her. Cut a long story short, she wasn't there anymore! Either somebody had pinched her or she had slipped her anchor. So now we are strandard on Sark with nothing apart form 4 life jackets and a tender.
What to do now? Well we made our way to the main harbour to see if the yacht had been found and taken there. Nope! It hadn't. So we called the Sark Constable, she came and met us and then she swiftly went on her way round Sark on a rib to see if she could find the boat. About 20 minutes later she returned and told us there was no sign her. The authorities were informed, as in the Jersey, Guernsey and French harbours and we had to find our own way back to Jersey.
Absolutely knackered by now I can tell you. We found out that there wasn't a boat back to Jersey on that day so we had to go to Guernsey. So we got on a boat to Guernsey. Then got a taxi to the airport. Things weren't that good at the airport either. We couldn't take the life jackets on board the flight as they had gas canisters in them, so we removed those. Then Mandy was going through security when they stopped her because she had a swiss army knife on her. They said she could get it posted back to Jersey for £20. What a rip off! Anyway she did do that as it was a gift from someone. Finally we were in departures. Nothing else could go wrong right? Our bloody flight was delayed. Aaarrrrggghhhhhhhh.
We finally got back to Jersey at about 2:30pm and went straight home to bed.
So the boat was drifting in the ocean somewhere. Will we ever get to see her again? Well the answer to that is yes actually. Elise got a call yesterday telling her that the yacht had been found and was being towed to Gorey harbour.
It was found just off Bouley Bay (Where we set off from on Friday). So basically the boat had gone home without us. A good ending for what seemed like a nightmare at the time.
Strange thing is, that it was quite an adventure and was really good fun!
I'm just so glad the yacht was found and Elise has got her baby back now.
Maybe next time we will actually get to have a drink on board :-)

Off Again

I'm leaving Jersey again this weekend. This time I am only going away for one night but should be good fun. A friend of mine, called Elise, has her own Yacht and has invited me to go to Sark for the night along with 2 other people. Reason being is because Uncle Barry is over there on his hols at the moment and we thought we would all hook up for the night.
He is staying in the Lighthouse for the week and leaves on Saturday, so we had better get a move on. The quicker we get there the longer the pubs will be open :-)
I have also plotted our course so we get there a little quicker.
What do you reckon?

Filtering Spam

***Attention All Day Traders And Investors***
Southwestern Medical Solutions, Inc. (Spam)

This is the email that is really pissing me off at the moment. I'm sure loads of you guys are getting it as well. My question is: How the hell do I filter this bastard?
The only text on it doesn't mean a thing and there isn't any information such as sender or I.P address that stays the same. The only legible text is all on a gif and I can't filter the gif as I will be filtering loads of other stuff too.

Anyone got any useful ideas?

At Bloody Last

I feel as though I am part of the wide world again. My broadband has just been connected at home. Hopefully this means I will be able to talk about any kind of crap I feel like on my site again. Oh and update all of the things that have gone wrong with this computer since I moved it into the new house. Don't know why but computers don't like moving house. Especially if they haven't been turned on for over a month. Now I have to get ready to go down the pub for a few well earned pints.
See you.
