Final played
That was a great final. Well done to Ani for a cracking game. Seems a shame I should win my own competition. Didn't think that was going to be the case after the first game though. Ani got the highest score of the competition in her first game! Beat her own personal best with it too. So you can't do much better than that. It really put me off. But then I had a lucky game with some good drop down points and the rest was history. Ani didn't give up trying though just look at her scores, not one under 20,000 and 2 in the high 30,000's
Game 1 Markiss 16,750 and Ani 39,495
Game 2 Markiss 34,605 and Ani 28,355
Game 3 Markiss 47,360 and Ani 24,225
Game 4 Markiss 24,970 and Ani 23,185
Game 5 Markiss 9,210 and Ani 37,735

innDulgence sorted
My innDulgence card statement has finally been sorted out. Have just got off the telephone from a member of staff at Ann Street and he assured me my statement would be credited with 8000 points. Now that seems a little closer to the mark. Just goes to show that some businesses don't treat their customers like dirt. Oh and on the same subject, whilst we were talking he did comment on the fact that "hopefully they were better than Norwich Union". You sure are Ann Street. So now I have Ann Street Brewery as one of my readers. Had better say nice things :-)
So that's about £80 worth of points to spend now. Won't take me too long to use those up I wouldn't think.
Thanks again Ann Street for following up my query and getting it sorted out.
Oh and have you guys seen their new updated website?

Bejeweled Trophy
I was asked by Dan if there would be a prize for this competition. So I said yes, there will be a virtual Trophy.
So behold the Virtual Bejeweled Trophy. Whos name will be on it? The suspense is killing me. Well not really, just trying to get Ani all nervous really :-)

Semi's Done
![]()
Well what can I say about that game. Dan and I had one hell of a game. Dan got his best ever score on the first game which really stuffed me up. He scored 37,520! I mean how the hell was I going beat that? Well as you can see by the scores below, I did manage to get him on the second game. All very high scores and it was a pleasure playing you Dan.
Game 1 Markiss 19,610 and Dan 37,520
Game 2 Markiss 38,800 and Dan 16480
Game 3 Markiss 26,180 and Dan 25305
Then of course there was the other Semi final played by Chris and Ani. That game was played at the same time as me and Dan were playing. Well, we finished first and Dan kept me informed on the scores. Chris was also chatting to me so don't know how he managed to play at the same time.
There scores were as follows:
Game 1 Ani 22,900 and Chris 2,000 ish
Game 2 Ani 10,374 and Chris 2,000 ish
Game 3 Ani 14,530 and Chris 8,260
So well done to you two guys for playing and especially Ani for winning.
The Score Board has been updated again to show these results.
Final coming soon. Ani vs Markiss.

Worrying
What a night I have just had. I have been down the Hospital all night. Basically I started my day today like normal but got more and more stressed as the day went on. I started getting this pain in my chest and then later I started getting this rushing pain down my left arm! Anyone who knows a little about heart conditions will know that this is a sign of Cardiac Arrest.
I was starting to fear the worst, so thought it would be better to be safe and go to the Hospital. I got down there just before 10pm and was sent straight through to see the nurse. After 2 E.C.G's and 3 attempts to get blood samples, 2 in my arm didn't work so they finally got some out of the back of my hand, I had to wait for the results. Luckily the Doctor told me it wasn't Cardiac and I could go home. I have only just got back and it is just after 2am. At least it all went well in the end.
The Hospital staff were xlnt. What a job they have. I should feel very lucky that we have such a good Hospital in Jersey.
Anyway, this very tired and sober blogger should go to bed now. Yes I said sober, you didn't read incorrectly :-)

Game 2 Ani 24760 Rob 13,350

Melissa Theuriau
I have decided that the French are actually quite lucky people. Well when it comes to their news readers they are. Just do a google search for Melissa Theuriau and see what I mean. Damn she is hot. You lucky lucky French guys. I would be addicted to the news if I was over there.
Oh and I just found a website dedicated to her. Don't know if it is hers or not though.

Service
It is amazing how differently companies treat you. I am dealing with 2 complaints at the moment. One with an Insurance company (Norwich Union Health) and one with Ann Street Brewery.
Norwich Union are taking the piss with my claim. They won't budge either. I just have to lump their decision too.
On the other hand Ann Street are being really helpful. I had a complaint about the number of points on my inndulgence card so I emailed them. Since then they have been really helpful sending me emails and keeping me up to speed with their progress. Ok it hasn't been resolved yet but at least I know where I stand with them. Which is more that I can say for Norwich Union. I can't stand that company, as you may have gathered if you read my blog.

Draw Done
![]()
The draw was done at the pub last night. It was done by people who aren't in the competition, so there was no cheating ;-)
I have put the names on the score board in the same order as they were drawn.
So all I need now are your hotmail addresses. I have most of them but will need Ani's please Dan. Could I have Beav's too. I have one for him but not sure if he has changed it or not.
I will email you all with your opponents address.
The time limit for the first round will be one week from the time of this post. So please contact each other and organise a time to play.
The game will be Bejeweled not "Bejeweled 2" and will be played in timed mode.
You will play the best of 3 and once you have both played those 3 games the winner will be the one with the overall highest score. Not all 3 added up.
Can the winner then email me with his or her high score along with their opponents highest score.
I will start the next round as soon as I have all the names in for the semi finals.
Have fun.

Scoreboard
I will be sorting the players out this week sometime. I will put the names in a pint glass and pull them out in front of people so you know I am not cheating :-)
The players for this competition are as follows:
Markiss
Chris
Dan
Ani
Donna
Beav
Rob
Lemurgirl
Unfortunately Rob and Lemurgirl can't play because of Mac issues.
Once I have filled in the names on the scoreboard, I will let you know your opponents msn email address and the time in which the game must be played by. Since there are 6 players, there are one of two things we can do.
Firstly, one player will get a bye straight into the Final. I will pull that name out of a hat. (Lucky person)
Or
The three people in the Semi's could all play each other and the two players with the highest scores would go through to the final.
Suggestions please.
Update:
Rob and Lemurgirl will be borrowing my laptop and using it in the pub one evening. So they can't play each other! Also Dan and Ani can't play each other as they are using the same computer! So what I will do is pull the names out and if they match up I will just swap them round. Haven't got a clue what I will do if they get into the final :-)
Nothing is ever straight forward with us guys. At least it makes it a bit more fun (NOT)

Bejeweled Comp

We have 8 people in total but I know 2 of you may not be able to enter because of problems with compatibility issues with Macs and Windows. Could you let me know if you can play or not. Then I will get the ball rolling. Hope you guys can.

Does anybody remember this post entitled "Meaning of Life"?
Well one of my readers certainly does. Dan decided to send in an entry for the book. A few months down the line he got a copy and was reading it and stumbled across his entry.
"Life is basically a pile of carbon, oxygen, hydrogen and other chemicals. Life is very good at creating new piles. This is the point. It is kind of pointless."
Nice one Dan, as you said in your email "That's one ambition fulfilled, being published in a book." Well you beat me on that one.

Just Stuff
What a day I have had. Full of ups and downs. First, up, was getting downstairs and opening the mail. Was something in there that I have been waiting for for weeks now and it has finally arrived. Good news was in it that's all I can say :)
Got to work and had a phonecall from my bank and they told me there was a problem with the mortgage and I might not be able to take it on. That was a big downer. So still don't know where I stand on that one yet.
LemurGirl has had some good news recently, she passed her exam! So why not go over and say hello. Well done Lemur.
Am going out tonight, for a change, but this time I am actually not going to the Mary's. Well, we are meeting there, but we are going down to the Devil's Hole instead. Could be a laugh, as I normaly end up breaking a bone or 2 when I leave. Fingers crossed I don't this time. Now I have said that, I will probably break my damned fingers!
I can't believe I have actually got my heating on in the office today. How quick does this weather change? Last week was boiling. Now looks like we are in for the winter. It's not all that bad I suppose, lit fires, home made soup oh and of course Christmas hols. Oh no I just mentioned Christmas, SORRY.
Hope you all have a good weekend.

innDulgence
Don't know if you remember the post I put up at the begining of the year about the innDulgence Scheme or not. Anyway, I was hoping to get loads of points for loads of free beer. As I do! I got my first statement through in June/July I think, I had 7 points on it. I put it down to the fact I didn't start at the begining of the year. Now I have just had my second statement through and it has got 381 points on it. Now not to sound too pissed off but WHAT THE FUCK?
Let's do some simple maths here. I spend anywhere between £15 and £35 at my local each and every day. (Not something to be proud of really) So let's say I got the card in April, that makes it 5 months. £15 a day for 5 months should be about £2250. You get 1 point for every full pound spent. So should be a min of 2250 points. So where did those 381 points come from?
Think someone is having a laugh or someone else has loads of points on their card!
I have now contacted the brewery and they said "We will look into it for you, Piss Head" Well not exactly but they are going to see what the problem is. Watch this space.

Bejeweled
![]()
Competition time again.
Since Bejeweled seems to be the game of the moment. I have decided to start a competition. I will sort the rules out when I know how many people want to enter. Basically you will need to have access to msn messenger and have a hotmail address to play. I will pair off people by having names pulled out of a hat (or probably a pint glass down the pub) and will let those people know. It will be up to you to organise the game and to complete it before the time given.
If you are interested in competing then please leave a comment. The more the merrier.

Like the French?
Well if you do then you may be put off them with this news. Apparently some French fishermen are using Live Cats and Dogs as Shark bait. Yes that's right I said live. They throw the animals into the water attached to their lines by loads of hooks on the animal. The sharks get lured by the animals struggling in the water. Sick or what? Brigitte Bardot is on the case though. Bless her.

Hedgehogs
For some reason me and my mates have been trying to sus out what the word Hedgehog is in different languages recently.
Actually I remember why we started it. I was talking to a Polish barmaid and she came out with the word "Yesh" one day. I said it is pronounced "Yes". Then she told me that "Yesh" is actually Polish for Hedgehog (Actually spelt "Jez"). So that's the reason for it.
Anyway thanks to Jonathan and his searching expertise, we now have over 40 translations of the word.
I will be testing you guys soon. So get to work learning them all. You never know when it will come in handy.

Mad Locals
I have decided that I hang around with a load of mad people.
Last night I was talking to a mate that drinks in the Bar at my local. Let's call him Ross for the sake of this post. Anyway Ross told me that on Saturday night, him and a load of mates were on a bit of a session and decided to deck each other. You know the kind of things, things like whack each other over the head with a tree trunk. Pick loads of stinging nettles and swipe them over your mates face and legs etc etc.
Now Ross hadn't had enough pain when it was late on Saturday evening, so he asked a mate to get a snooker cue (the ones that screw together in 2 halves) unscrew it and use the thick metal end of the cue to hit him hard on the belly a few times. This was to see how bad a bruise he could get the following day. He lifted his top to show me yesterday and this was the result.
Ross was very pleased with himself too and plans some similar games next week.
See I told you I hang around with mad people.

New Msn Status
Haven't done any work on my actual website for ages, so I thought I would add something today. If you look to the right you can now see my Msn Status. Not sure why anyone would like to have it on their website but if you are interested in how it's done you can see it in the extended entry. If not, don't bother looking :-)
Requirements
Add the bot mentioned in the section below to your contact list, this allows the bot to stay up to date with your presence on MSN. And well... that's pretty much it. Now you can use the indicator too. All you need to do is use the url

Long Wait
Amazon, isn't that site great? You can get hold of most books and films you want and even if it isn't in stock or actually released yet, you can pre-order the items. I think that is great but sometimes I get these films through a couple of months down the line and completely forgot I had ordered them.
Now if I ordered "Hellfest Vol IV" from Amazon at the moment, I can actually pre-order it. Only problem is the availability date is a little too long for even me to wait.

Houses
Yes, yes I know. Where have I been? I've actually been trying to sort mortgages out and stuff recently and keep slipping in and out of normality. That's why my posts seem to be a little sporadic lately. I will get there one day!
Anyway, I am here now and that's what matters.
Right, as some of you know, I am an Architect and as such I take an interest in buildings. Not all but the more interesting ones. Surfing the Internet last night I came across a couple that would interest some of you guys. Honestly they will.
First up is a house (Small city more like it) that none of us guys will ever be able to afford. Just take a look at this place. It apparently belongs to the family of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the former president of the United Arab Emirates and ruler of Abu-Dhabi. Now I bet you are impressed with that. Wouldn't like to sleep in that bedroom though, I like to be a little more cosy than that.
Second up is a house a little smaller but still not many of us could afford it. It is in Goldhawk Road, Shepherds Bush area of London. It's up for sale for a staggering £525,000. Now a few of you will be saying "But Markiss, your house was more than that". Yes it was but just take a look at what you will be getting for your money.
And I thought Jersey was expensive!
