Transparent Screens
These are well good. Transparent Screens. Has anyone tried doing this before? I think I am going to have a go at it. Would confuse my staff big time. Looks as though it would be a little easier if I used a laptop at work though! If you have a go at it could you email me a picture. Would love to see it.Posted by Markiss at 2:18 PM | Comments (0)

Book Meme
Book meme thanks to Jeremy: (and I hardly watched any television this weekend)You're stuck inside Fahrenheit 451, which book do you want to be?
The Bible
Have you ever had a crush on a fictional character?
Yes (but on T.V and not a book)
The last book you bought is:
Mein Kampf
The last book you read:
(I was actually reading 2)
Kiss: Behind the Mask
and
Red Hot Chili Peppers: By the Way
What are you currently reading?
Mein Kampf
Five books you would take to a deserted island:
Coral Island (first book I ever read and still love it)
Atlas
Outdoor Survival Handbook
Into the Primitive
and
"Playboy": 50 Years - The Photographs (at least I am being honest)
Who are you going to pass this stick to (3 persons) and why?
Rob 'cos he got away with it before.
Kelly 'cos that will give me a good excuse to email her and see if she is still in the land of the living.
and
Anita 'cos I want to see if she actually responds to emails like this and I would like to see her answers :-)
Update:
Just seen that Rob has already done his book meme. Didn't realise, sorry. So 2 will have to do this time. Even though the likleyhood of 'em replying is small :-)

Feels Better
What a start to a new week I've had! I get into the office this morning to find yet another final demand for the monies owed to my surgeon and then spend ages on the phone to Mr Dickhead (See post below). Also when I open the door to my office, it is all over the place. You see, we have had some builders in laying a new timber floor. They have done a good job and I am not getting at them for the state of the place either. I can't blame them as there is loads of stuff in my office. But as I have got to start working drawings on 11 houses soon I really needed to put the office right. I just can't stand working in an environment that feels disorganised. Some people may find that quite funny coming from me, as my office does look that way. But I know exactly where stuff is. So what have I been up to today? Cleaning and throwing stuff away. I have just finished doing the main bits now. It has taken all day. I do feel better for it though. Even whilst writing this, it feels soo much better. Now let's hope I can start doing some work tomorrow. Since I wasn't working on the computer today, I made use of the time to do a full system scan with my anti virus software, defragment the computer and back it up. So even the computer feels better to me now as well. Tonight I am now going to take it easy. I am going to cook some nice pork steaks that I won on the Thrift club raffle, wash that down with a box of red wine (well not all of it) and watch Bridget Jone's Diary 2. Think that is a bit of a girlie film but I won't know until I have watched it.Posted by Markiss at 5:51 PM | Comments (0)
DICKHEAD
Aaaaaaaarrrrgggghhhhh! You fucking bunch of low lives."Oh, I am sorry Sir. I will be dealing with this personally from now on. It will be settled today." (Said in a sarcastic Homer Simpson voice)
Fuck off you FUCKING DICKHEAD. (Said in a well pissed off Markiss voice but not actually out loud)
(Now I think I have finally lost it)

Kids Night
Should be a stupid night down the pub tonight. For some reason Alan is bringing down some rubber swords to fight each other with and I am going to take my shocking tanks down too. Looks like another recipe for disaster and getting barred. Good fun all round I reckon. Right, I am off to put some new batteries in the tanks.Posted by Markiss at 6:13 PM | Comments (0)

Droogle
At last a really helpful search engine. Droogle is a site dedicated to helping you make the most out of your alcoholic ingredients at home. I never realised there were so many different types of Gin cocktails :-) Found this site just in time for the long weekend too! There is a God after all.Posted by Markiss at 2:12 PM | Comments (0)

Internet Urinal
You may be laughing now, but when the moment comes and you don't have one of these the joke is going to be on you! Great gift for those who can't hold their own. Internet Urinal. Could be useful down the pub too. Just imagine never having to get up and loose your seat just because you need to go. Can't see them catching on myself.Posted by Markiss at 7:42 PM | Comments (0)
Logo
How bad has today been? I only had one day off work and all hell breaks loose. Everyone wants me to do something for them and quickly. I have only just had enough time to sit down and have my lunch now. Yes lunch at quarter to six! At least the day is nearly over. One of the things I was asked to do was design the company a logo. It had to be done in 20 minutes as I had to email the magazine the logo so it could be printed. Problem is I am not that kind of designer. Anyway here it is:
Looks a little better at the larger size it was designed for though.
One good thought for the day "Only two more days to go, then long weekend".
That makes it soo much better.

Beer Maths
1. First of all, pick the number of times a week that you would like to have a pint. (try for more than once and don't do what I did and pick 50! It means days of the week)2. Multiply this number by 2 (Just to be honest)
3. Add 5. (for Sunday)
4. Multiply it by 50 I'll wait while you get the calculator................
5. If you have already had your birthday this year add 1755.... If you haven't, add 1754 ...
6. Now subtract the four-digit year that you were born.
You should have a three-digit number
The first digit of this was your original number
(i.e., how many times you want to have a pint during the week).
The next two numbers are .......
YOUR AGE! ~ (Oh YES, it IS!!!!!)
Well at least it was beer related :-)
Right. I will let you get on with what you were doing, sorry about that!

Record Time
What a good day I have had today. It all started this morning. My drive into work this morning was an all time record. It only took me 8 minutes! I didn't see another car all the way there. Second good thing is that it has been an excellent day weather wise. I think we are due about 19°C tomorrow too. Roll on Summer. Thirdly, I have been non stop on my computer running off specs and details like I can't believe. Work has been good to me today :-) Lastly and by all means the best. I have a Chicken Jalfrazi, Pilau rice, Sag Aloo and Nan bread all waiting for me in the fridge for when I get home. Ordered it last night but could only eat the starter as I was full. So I have the main tonight, for some reason it always does taste better the next day. The only thing that has gone wrong today is the fact that I wanted to post this in the morning but I couldn't log into Blogger. I finally send them an email stating such and 10 minutes later I can get in. Hmmmm, coincidence huh? One last thing, I want to wish Tezza a Happy Birthday. All the best you old Git :-)Posted by Markiss at 6:11 PM | Comments (0)

Swap Water for Beer
Now this is one experiment that sounds like a good laugh. Swap water for beer, Carling infact. Can you imagine waking up at 7am and then having to brush your teeth with Carling? I couldn't, not at 7am anyway, I could at 9am :-)Posted by Markiss at 3:54 PM | Comments (0)
Statistics
I was listening to a local radio station this morning, they have got a competition running in which you can win a car. You have to pick up an application form from one of the Shell garages over here. They then started to read out every Shell garage you could pick one up from. They mentioned over 20 in all. I couldn't believe it, so I decided to look into how many Garages in total there are in Jersey. (Because i'm sad like that) There are 52 of the things! I just cannot believe there are soo many on an Island which is 9 x 5 miles in size. That's 1.15 Garages in every square mile of Jersey. No excuse if you run out of petrol then! It got me started on other Stats as well. Did you know there are 136 restaurants over here? Is there really enough space for all of them? There are 92 pubs (Thank God) and I drink in just one 99% of the time! Boring me. Well actually it's not really, 'cos at least I can have a drink there and not get done for D.I.C (D.U.I). There are 33 Supermarkets. 12 Garden Centres. 48 Banks. The list goes on. It's quite amazing what you can fit on such a small Island really. Right I will stop blabbing and get back to doing some work, along with the other 38 Architects offices over here. Well someone has to design all those Restaurants!Posted by Markiss at 2:31 PM | Comments (0)

Wireless
Here I am sitting in my living room and posting to my blog. Yes my laptop is finally connected to my wireless. Wasn't working for a little while, something to do with setting it up after the pub. 6 pints of lager isn't a good thing to have when you are trying to install hardware. Thanks to Rob it has now been sorted. So I can now be even more lazy than I was before. I just love technology, well technology that makes life easier that is. Now I am going to surf the Net and watch a film at the same time, nice.Posted by Markiss at 8:40 PM | Comments (0)

Email Account
You looking to have another email account? Why not go for something a little different then. Ok first there was fuckhotmail.com but they aren't taking anymore subscriptions. So why not go for the longest email address in the world. Your email address would look something like this: yourname@abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzabcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzabcdefghijk.com They are proud of the fact that the email address sometimes doesn't work with webforms because it is too long. Some email software cannot be configured. People cannot remember your email address and some companies think that your email address is fake. Brilliant, let's sign up then :-) The World's Longest Alphabetical Email AddressPosted by Markiss at 1:11 PM | Comments (0)
R.I.P Fishness
My favourite pet fish died the other day. Haven't got a clue why but he is now an ex Goldfish. R.I.P Fishness.
Blogger seems to have been down for the last 2 days, pain in the arse.
Have been detailing all week, which means I haven't had time to post anything anyway.
Detailing is one part of my job which I dread. Designing every part of a building to make sure the Building conforms to British Standards (which are getting higher and higher in the last few years). If I get anything wrong with these details then I am the one to blame. Cills, Jambs, Heads, Slabs, Radon Barriers, D.p.c's, Eaves, Verges, Dormers etc etc. Lucky enough I have finally finished them today, so the rest of the day will be checking the damned things.
So I may finally come back down to earth and enjoy this weekend after all.

Shocking Tank Battle
I have just got to get one of these. Each tank is equipped with an infra-red cannon. Every time you hit your opponent's tank, he gets a painful electric shock from his controller. The object is to knock his tank out of commission, and make him suffer in the process. Or make them pee in their pants. Now that sounds xlnt, they should have one put in the pub for the locals to play with. I can just see it now - The Lounge against the Bar. Shocking Tanks Of course if we did do a "Lounge against the Bar" tank battle, then we would all need one of these gadgets to keep us company for the game.Posted by Markiss at 2:00 AM | Comments (0)

Monday is here again! The weekend has finished, the serious head has to be put back on and the Markiss head put back in the cupboard under the stairs. Preferably in a box, so not to give the mice a heart attack. What was I up to this weekend? The same as always really, out every night to have a few drinks with my mates. Finally
This last week I haven't really had enough time to put any personal entries in my Blog because I have been not stop working. 9 hour days, to get a job finished by this Friday. Well I have just managed to finished it. It wasn't one of my favourite parts of my job either. I'm sure I have mentioned it before but I hate working out levels and that's what I have been doing all week. Meetings at the begining of the week then the rest sat in front of my computer with a calculator. Working out 100's of levels for this massive site. Making sure all of the slabs are correct, working out the falls for all the drains and falls for surface water etc etc etc. Someone has to do it otherwise your toilets would glog up and your house would fill up with water! What got me through the week? Well that is simple, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin and Iron maiden. I just love working to that kinda of music. Only one problem is I can never hear any clients coming in :-) So what's new? I have booked myself a holiday to Cyprus for a week. Really need that. Hopefully it will be warm and even more important I hope there are some nice restaurants and good bars. I can just see it now, me sat outside a bar, watching the sun set with a beer in my hand and wearing a T-Shirt. Oh yes........... :-) That's not for a while yet though. Today I have received some Dvd's through the post, so that means tonight I can relax in front of the T.v and watch "Open Water" and "Master and Commander". With a bottle of wine of course. I have been wanting to see "Open Water" for ages now, I hope it's as good as ought to be. Most of the write up's i've read aren't really that good but i'm not expecting a big budget Hollywood movie, just 2 people bobbing up and down in the sea at night will freak me out enough. Anyway, best go and print out the work i've done for my client now. See ya!Posted by Markiss at 5:12 PM | Comments (0)
