Misheard Lyrics

This is really good "The Archive of Misheard Lyrics." How many times have you heard Purple Haze by Jimi Hendrix and heard him sing the lyric "'Scuse me, while I kiss the sky" only to think he said "'Scuse me, while I kiss this guy"? Well I for do everytime I hear it. I actually sing it out loud now i've been doing it for so long. O.k not all of them are as good as that famous line but there are some crackers. What about The Rolling Stones song, Honky Tonk Woman! The real line is "I met a gin-soaked barroom queen in Memphis" and the misheard one is "I met a Jensa Foreign Queen in Memphis". Hmmmmm?

Not as good as I thought

Well unfortunately the weekend wasn't as good as I first thought. Saturday at Gary's was xlnt. Everyone had a good time there but towards the end g/f and I fell out. That was it for the rest of the weekend basically. Won't go into reasons but it was bad. So Sunday wasn't spent down the Tipsy in the end. Mind you sounds just as well, it seems it was a bit too busy for my liking anyway! Monday turned out o.k in the end. Just took all the furniture out of the lounge ready for the carpet cleaner to come today. It took a couple of hours but I have just been home and seen the carpet and it was worth it. It looks brand spanking new and for just £52. To think we were going to buy a new one! Tonight g/f and I are going out for a meal to sort a few things out, we will have to see what the outcome is. Fingers crossed!

Gazzas 40th

I have got a really mad weekend coming up. Can't wait for it. On Saturday is Gazza's 40th birthday. He is having a B.B.Q and there should be about 80 people there. Will be a good laugh. Fingers crossed, the weather will hold out. I just know I will still be there at 6 in the morning! Always happens when I go round to his place. Then Sunday, there are some rock bands playing up at the Tipsy Toad. There is an outdoor stage set up there. I think there is 7 bands in total but wont know 'till the day. So another excuse to go drinking all day! The best thing about this weekend is, of course, we have a bank holiday on Monday. Aaaaaaahhhhhhhhh Haaaaaaaaaaa :-) Wonder what I will do then? Nothing planned as yet but i'm sure I will think of something. Have a good weekend people.

Bear Kiss

Just had to put this up being such a massive Kiss fan, as I am. Have been searching Google images for Kiss photo's so I can design some album covers and came across this little beauty. Now I doubt many of you, who read my blog, ever search for Kiss photo's but I tell you something. You sure don't get bored with some of the stuff that comes up :-) I'm sure you can imagine!

Busy again

Have been far to busy to post today. Client's wanting things sooner rather than on time! Why do they do that? Don't they realise we have other client's too? Anyway, did manage to download an album from a mates site today. So that was one good thing I suppose. Will have to do the album cover art tonight when I finally get back in. Unfortunately I am going out on site now to take some more levels. (No, not going to try and sus out it's under neighbour) Just going to do the job in hand! And see if these 3 houses I have designed, fit on the site! Sssssh, hmmmm! I know they do really but noithing like checking twice.

Fiji Islands

You're right Jonathan. I think I have pin pointed it now. My next door (under) Neighbour is in the Pacific Ocean. (Duh!) and it is right next to Fiji. Now that's a good excuse to go on a holiday there. Popping out to meet the neighbours love :-) I will be a couple of weeks.

How sad am I?

Now if I am working this out right, I should be able to do this properly. My Coordinates are : Lat: 49 12 00 N degrees minutes & Long: 002 12 00 W degrees minutes. So I think I should be looking for: Lat: 49 12 00 S degrees minutes & Long: 002 12 00 E degrees minutes. Does that make any sense to anyone? Tell me if I am wrong please.......

Right then, according to my calculations my next door (under) Neighbour is:
Errrrrrmmmmmm?
Hang on a minute!
Hmmmmmmmmm?
Right there in the bleedin' Atlantic Ocean! About 400 miles south of Africa. So there! And since no-one owns the sea, surley I own all the way through to the otherside of the world then :-) Big place mine!
I have a headache now, so back to work.

Levels to the Core

One thing has been bugging me today. Am doing some work on some levels of a site at the moment and just wondered : If a person owns a piece of land do they own it all the way down to the core of the earth? I mean, how far am I allowed to dig? Do I really own all that land? Hmmmmmmm?

O P E N W A T E R

I just can't wait for Open Water to be released. This film looks as though it is going to be a right cracker. Can you imagine being out in the open water for days? One of my worst nightmares is to be stranded out in the sea at night. Oh and one more thing, the official website has a great background sound. I have had it playing most of the afternoon :-) Sad huh? I just love thunder though. Wonder how I can save the sound file from the site?

Anyway, a bit about the movie for you :
Based on true events, OPEN WATER follows an American couple, Daniel and Susan, (Daniel Travis and Blanchard Ryan) on an island holiday. Upon arrival at their hotel, we learn that Daniel and Susan's relationship is under strain from their workaholic lifestyles, and they need a vacation even more than they realized.
The next morning, the loving and rested couple, certified scuba divers, board a local dive boat for an underwater tour of the reef. The boat is crowded with other vacationers, and due to a series of innocent miscommunications and a distracted crew, the couple is, after only 40 minutes or so underwater, accidentally left behind.
What follows is the story of their ordeal: cold, alone and miles from land, the couple is adrift in shark-infested waters. While shining a light on how we often take our comfortable lives and our relationships for granted, OPEN WATER reminds us of the fragility and vulnerability of modern man in relation to the vast and indiscriminant power of nature.

One for Val

Val has had 2 complaints about my site.... 1) Finding it hard to read (Red on Black) & 2) Not having any recipes on here since Rob isn't doing it at the moment. Well just for you Val. I give you:

Paella Salad (in light blue, large text)

1 ¼ cups olive oil
2 cups raw long-grain rice
5 cups chicken stock
2 generous pinches saffron
1 ½ teaspoons salt
1/3 c. red wine vinegar
1 ½ pounds large prawns, cooked and shelled with tails left on, and
deveined
½ c. julienne slivers rd. pepper
½ c. julienne slivers grn. pepper
1 c. gr. peas, cooked and drained
½ c. qtrd. black olives
¼ c. chop. fresh parsley
¼ c. chpd. fresh chives
8 to 10 large lettuce leaves
---
1. In a large heavy casserole with a lid, heat 1/4 cup of the oil over medium-high heat. When the oil is hot add the rice and cook, stirring, until it is opaque, 2 to 3 minutes. Add the stock, saffron, and 1/2 teaspoon of the salt. Stir will to dissolve the saffron, and bring the mixture to a simmer. Lower the heat and cook, covered, until all liquid has been absorbed, about 20 minutes. When the rice is cooked, remove the lid and let it cool to room temperature.
2. To assemble the salad, place the vinegar and the remaining 1 teaspoon salt in a large non-aluminum mixing bowl. Whisk in the remaining 1 cup olive oil. Add the prawn, red and green peppers, peas, and olives. Let marinate 10 minutes. Then add the rice, parsley, and chives, and mix well.
3. To serve, arrange a border of lettuce leaves on a large serving platter and mound the salad in the center. Serve at room temperature or slightly chilled.
Aren't I the nice one :-)
I do like to keep my readers happy from time to time............
And I know you like Paella too!

Lending Stuff

I bought a chainsaw about 8 months ago, right? I only used it once and it worked a treat. Someone asked to borrow it from me and I had no problems with that at all. All I asked was if he ke new how to use one. He said yes I have used them loads of times. So off he went and cut off a few branches here and there then brought it back. "Any problems with it?" I asked. "No it worked just fine thanks" said my mate. End of story............... Until today, that is! I get all setup to cut a load of timber into logs for the coming winter and guess what? It doesn't work. I found that the blade had been put on back to front and he had tried to use it this way. So now the blade is knackered. What do I do? Do I let him know and get him to replace it? Or do I just keep my mouth shut and go get one myself? Knowing me I will just go get one have be done with it. But it does annoy me when people are trusted with your property and then bring it back BROKEN! Ah.......... I feel better now I got that off my chest :-)

Design ideas

Looking for some ideas, on the Internet, for a client. I found this : How times change. The seventies style looks so outrageous, doesn't it? Not too sure whether I love it or hate it! One thing is for sure though, they certainly didn't have any issues with using colour. Not like today, with all this peach white, apple white and magnolia. At least they had fun with the designs back then. Must say something about the way we are now days. BORING....... Bring back the seventies! P.S. I have got a few client's that have installed / decorated their bathrooms and kitchen's like this but I think everyone should do it :-) Put a bit of fun back into your house................ (might make you feel a bit sick if you had a hangover though)

I Robot

Haven't I been slack? Well I had a long day at work and then decided to go to the pictures. I do that once in a while. This time I went to see "I Robot". Personally I liked the film. But then again, I am well into Sci-Fi stuff. What did I find best about the movie? 2 things really: 1) The Audi.......... 2) Will Smiths leather jacket ( I want one!) Oh and all the effects and lovely little robots were quite good too :-) What to watch next? Hmmmmmm! Still haven't watched Kill Bill 2 yet. Think that will be the next. Now to get some sleep. Night night.

Quick Edit links

One of the changes I have made to this site (one which you guys can't see) is I have added Quick Edit links. If you have a blog spot or Blogger account, I would definitely use these. They are really easy to install too. Basically this is what they do according to blogger: Quick Edit links give you quick and direct access to edit your posts after they've been published. You probably know the scenario well—you publish a long post, then start proof reading it on your blog. You find a mistake, so you go back to Blogger's Edit Posts page, locate the post and fix/republish it. You continue proof reading, find another mistake, and on and on. Quick Edit links take you directly to the post in Blogger, bypassing (most of) the process described previously. Basically you will see a small pencil icon and you can edit your posts directly from that. You can't see it but I can. Here is what I see: There are only 3 things to remember: 1) To enable them, set Show Quick Editing on your Blog? to Yes in the Settings | Basic tab in Blogger. 2) You must have the <$BlogMetaData$> tag in your Template's "head" section. 3) You must have the <$BlogItemControl$> tag wherever you want the Quick Edit links to appear. I have mine in my "posted by" and "permalink" line (as you can see now :-) Hope this helps.....

Isn't life a bitch? It's been baking hot for the last few weeks, really humid too and I have been stuck in my office all the time. Then today I finally had 2 sites to go on. One to survey and the other was a site meeting with the builder. So what happens? It pisses down! Just for 10 minutes but that is the 10 minutes I am outside surveying somones garden. Bastard! Mind you it was quite refreshing. But now I am having to work off a crumpled piece of paper trying to sus out what I wrote on it. Should be a laugh. Not for the client though :-)

How times have changed

The Good Wife's Guide

Have dinner ready. Plan ahead, even the night before, to have a delicious meal ready on time for his return. This is a way of letting him know that you have be thinking about him and are concerned about his needs. Most men are hungry when they get home and the prospect of a good meal is part of the warm welcome needed.

Prepare yourself. Take 15 minutes to rest so you'll be refreshed when he arrives. Touch up your make-up, put a ribbon in your hair and be fresh-looking. He has just been with a lot of work-weary people.
Be a little gay and a little more interesting for him. His boring day may need a lift and one of your duties is to provide it.

Clear away the clutter. Make one last trip through the main part of the house just before your husband arrives. Run a dustcloth over the tables.

During the cooler months of the year you should prepare and light a fire for him to unwind by. Your husband will feel he has reached a haven of rest and order, and it will give you a lift too. After all, catering to his comfort will provide you with immense personal satisfaction.

Minimize all noise. At the time of his arrival, eliminate all noise of the washer, dryer or vacuum. Encourage the children to be quiet.

Be happy to see him.

Greet him with a warm smile and show sincerity in your desire to please him.

Listen to him. You may have a dozen important things to tell him, but the moment of his arrival is not the time. Let him talk first - remember, his topics of conversation are more important than yours.

Don't greet him with complaints and problems.

Don't complain if he's late for dinner or even if he stays out all night. Count this as minor compared to what he might have gone through at work.

Make him comfortable. Have him lean back in a comfortable chair or lie him down in the bedroom. Have a cool or warm drink ready for him.

Arrange his pillow and offer to take off his shoes. Speak in a low, soothing and pleasant voice.

Don't ask him questions about his actions or question his judgment or integrity. Remember, he is the master of the house and as such will always exercise his will with fairness and truthfulness. You have no right to question him.

A good wife always knows her place.

Roberts familly find Bunker

Found in the Jersey Evening Post: "They may have a German bunker as their garden wall, but the Roberts family weren't expecting to fall through their lawn and find the other half of it.

However, after years of playing cricket and ball games on the same piece of grass, 15-year-old Andrea accidentally put her foot through the garden of their home in Westmount Road last week and discovered a buried passage.

At first, Andrea's mum, Annette Vickers-Roberts, assumed that her daughter had just fallen awkwardly on her foot - until a few days later when she decided to investigate the matter further.

The family have uncovered a passage between two other bunkers and now have a garden that appears to accommodate three German bunkers in all. They intend to bury the bunkers once again, and this time they hope to leave them sitting underground rather more securely."

Seems a shame they are going to fill in the Bunkers really. Can you imagine the parties you could have in them? Or even make a fall out shelter! Since the Government are really pushing the point at the moment. Whilst on that subject, have you seen this site called Preparing for Emergencies? Quite amusing :-)

Star Wars Holiday Special

Anyone seen this film before? Star Wars Holiday Special. Since I am such a fan of Star Wars and all of the Star Trek series. I decided to buy Star Wars Holiday Special about 3 years ago. Only watched it once though. Can't blame me really as it is hilariously bad. Still it makes my Star Wars collection complete. It has all of the original cast members in it too. It's quite amazing how many Star Wars fans don't know it exists. It is basically about Chewbacca's family. They all live in a tree house and are awaiting Chewie to come home to celebrate Life Day. His wife (Mulla), son (Lumpy) and Father (Itchy) are just moping around the house growling at each other for about an hour. Think you really need to be stoned to fully appreciate this film. Just thought I would mention this as I was just sent the website in an email. Wookie fact: The main Wookie language is called "Shyriiwook" and they have 15 separate words in their vocabulary for Violence. Bet you didn't know that? Also, this Saturday, Lucasfilm put an end to the speculation and announced the full title for the next Star Wars film. Star Wars: Episode III: "Revenge of the Sith" is scheduled for release on May 19, 2005. Can't wait.............

Lightning

Forgot to mention that last night we had a great thunder storm. I love 'em. I ended up sitting outside by the front door under the porch watching the lightning with a glass of wine and a cigarette. It was pissing down! let's hope we have more of the same tonight. Last time we had a storm like that, both my home computer and the work computer were fried. Now I have some power surge protectors on both computers and both made it through the night. Unlike the many people who are dropping their computers off to the shop to get fixed today. Bet the computer shops love lightning. It must triple their business load. So, lesson for today. If you haven't got any power surge gear, get some. If you don't want to purchase any then unplug your internet connection and power supply. I lost soooooo much information last time it happened, so the £20 or so for the gear is worth it. I got myself a Belkin Surgemaster.

Yup, I have put 5 of my favourite photo's up for you to see. First day back

This is my first day that I am properly back at work today. So what did I get up to? Well basically I sat on my arse for 5½ hours doing absolutely nothing. I watched an electronic sliding door open and close about 300 times. Sat in the same chair without getting up once in all that time. Didn't even get up for a cigarette! Didn't speak to anyone. Didn't do any work or make any money. Where was I? In Accident and Emergency! For some reason my ankle has given way and hurts like hell. I think it is to do with carrying all that baggage in France around with me. So after waiting all that time, my name was finally called out. At last I thought, I will now go and see some wiz of a Doctor who will sort me out good and proper. Nope! He could hardly speak English and seemed to be in a rush. He said "Well you haven't broken it. Just take some Ibuprofen for a week or two. It should sort it out" That was it! 5½ hours for a 25 second appointment. How annoying is that? Anyway it had to be done. At least I haven't got any broken bones, well not that the Doctor knows about. So maybe tomorrow will be a better day. We shall have to wait and see.

Back from my Hols

Hi everyone. Back from my holiday already! Can't believe where the time went. I wont bore you with all the in's and out's of the holiday but all the main parts of a good holiday were there. Good weather (31°C), Good food, Good wine and Good Hotels. All the travelling went to plan, didn't miss any boats, taxis, coaches or trains. Which makes a pleasant change for me. I would like to say thanks to Mr Roberto for Blog sitting for me whilst I was away. I hope you have enjoyed his gastronomic delights. I know I will try the Moules dish sometime later this summer. He knows how much I like them. I think I must have had 10 lbs of the things whilst in France. I will have to catch up on all the other blogs I read soon as, unfortunately, I am at work today and very busy. Yes that's right! Working on Sunday...... and only got back to Jersey at 9pm yesterday. We have a meeting tomorrow so the work has to be done. Hope you are all enjoying the sun we've been having this last week. If you are in a part of the world that isn't enjoying it (EB!) Well tough, you've been rubbing it in my face all winter and now it's my turn :-) Right, back to work, speak tomorrow...... Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! P.S. So where is all the porn you were threatening to put on my site, whilst I was away Roberto? I was looking forward to that :-) P.P.S So now you start commenting Jonathan. I will have to put up some more recipes for you sometime............ NOT! P.P.P.S Apparently putting some anchovies in Rob's Tapenade makes it taste even better. Mmmmmmm. P.P.P.P.S If you want to know all the "Nasty Markiss" stories Kel, all you have to do is ask :-)
