Liberation Day
For those of you, not in the know, it was Liberation day in the Channel Islands this weekend. It normally means that we have a day off work but as it fell on a Sunday this year, it wasn't officially a Holiday. So I decided to take today off anyway. Along with a bunch of mates who all went on the severe piss with me yesterday. We have made it an official party day for the last few years and no doubt it will carry on being so in the future. God help us next year when it is the 60th annivesary of the Liberation. Well to some it up reasonably quickly. We all met down the Mont Felard at 11:30am to start the day with a couple of pints. Then got on the bus to St Aubin, where we had lunch in the Old Court House. Downstairs to the bar after that. Strolled on to the Tenby. Swayed to the Trafalgar. Hopped to the Wine Bar. Things were getting quite blurry by then. Am having to think what happened next now! Ermmmmm? Hang on a minute while I get my bearings! Hmmm........ Ah that's right! Now for the second leg of the pub crawl. Then had a walk along the beach to the Foresters. (Well some of them got the bus there! LAZY B*stards :-) Had a few there then into the Goose on the Green. Stagggered up to the Brit Bel Royal after that and then on to our last destination which was back to the Mont Felard. As you can imagine, we were all totally gone by then. We left the Felard at closing time. So it was a 12 hour session in all. It didn't stop there either! Then someone, god knows who, probably Neil or Toots, had a great idea of going to Milbrook park to have a go on the swings/slides etc. Not a very good idea but what a laugh. Had loads of bruises this morning. Neil was nearly arrested by the police. Well not as such but they asked him and Toots a few questions :-) Then back to their place to end the evening off. What a great day. Really good time with some really nice freinds. Can't wait for next year now. Because we all took the day off today, we decided to all meet up again and finish off what we started yesterday. So we all met up in the Union in St Lawrence and then down to the Vic in the Valley for lunch and more drinks. Now I am just about knackered enough to go back to bed. Well for your amusement I have posted some of the photo's which we took yesterday. Some of them meaning that we took 140 of them and couldn't be bothered to put all of them up here. Oh and some of them were just not publishable (is that a word?) Anyway here are the 66 Liberation Day Photo's As usual, if anyone wants their photo taken off the Net then just let me know and I will take them down a.s.a.p. But then again looking at the other photo's of you lot on my website, I can't see why you would want me to ;-) Back to work tomorrow. Nevermind! See ya.Posted by Markiss at May 10, 2004 6:42 PM
